Profile

Professor Dr Aznida Firzah Abdul Aziz is Professor of Family Medicine (Health Economics) and Senior Family Medicine Consultant at the Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), where she has served since May 2003. She maintains a diverse portfolio of clinical, academic, and leadership responsibilities.

She served as Head of the Research Unit within the Department of Family Medicine (2019-2026), overseeing departmental research initiatives and strategic direction. She is also the Country Convenor for Malaysia for the South East Asia Regional Collaboration in Health (SEARCH) Strategic Purchasing Project, an international collaboration funded by the Gates Foundation (2022-2026).

She is actively engaged in postgraduate education, having supervised 28 Clinical Masters students and 9 PhD candidates across Family Medicine, Public Health, Rehabilitation and Nursing. She contributes to the global scientific community as a registered reviewer for several international journals, including BMJ Open, Family Practice, and BMC Health Services Research.

Her research focuses on Health Systems Research, specifically economic evaluations and health economics (health financing and strategic purchasing), multidisciplinary care pathways for non-communicable diseases, and long-term community-based stroke care through integrated care pathways (iCaPPS©).
